My thoughts on staying the course in motherhood.
I can only lay the foundation- plant the seed, water it, care for it, love it, feed it, live my life as a servant leader. I have to be very careful how I live- not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16. I have to be careful how I live. I am God's temple and he lives in me. The way I act, words I say, my everyday example speak to my children. I have to speak words of encouragement, affirmation, and love more than I condemn and correct. I also have to deal immediately with disrespect and disobedience but in a calm and loving way. A soft answer turns away wrath. Proverbs 15:1. Only God makes things grow. I must only stay in Christ, remain diligent with my task, and not grow weary. I must plant, water, pray, and allow God to grow my children.
1 Corinthians 3:5-11
New International Version 1984
5 What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8 The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
